Golden Valley Rotary Scholarships

"I didn’t know people cared this much. You don’t want to quit on them (Rotarians) – they lit a fire in our souls." De Williams, Class of 2011
"Thanks to all of you (Rotarians). STRIVE (Students Taking a Renewed Interest in the Value of Education, a Rotary program) changed my whole outlook on school. It made me believe I could go to college." Jess Larson, Class of 2011

These are just two examples of the significant impact the Rotary Club of Golden Valley has on students at Robbinsdale Armstrong High School's "A" School alternative program. Rotary club volunteers work with struggling students on organizational, study, and other skills. Many students turn their lives around and are rewarded by Rotary with college scholarships often received by youth who never dreamed they would graduate from high school.

In the past, the Rotary Club of Golden Valley has contributed $5,000 in academic scholarships to top Robbinsdale Armstrong High School students and $5,000 is scholarships toward "A" School students who have shown strong progress during their senior year. We plan to triple our scholarship awards over the next few years in recognition of the need for students to attend some kind of post-secondary educational institution in order to be prepared for the workplace.
