Jan Callison served 12 years (2009-2020) as a member of the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners representing the Sixth District, including all or part of 16 western suburban communities. During her tenure, she was elected by her colleagues at various times as chair of the County Board, chair of the Regional Rail Authority, and chair of the Housing and Redevelopment Authority. Prior to her election as county commissioner, she served 12 years as an at-large councilmember in Minnetonka and three years as Mayor of Minnetonka. Jan received her undergraduate degree from Morningside College, graduate degree from Johns Hopkins University, and law degree from Harvard University. She has worked as in-house legal counsel, as an adjunct professor at William Mitchell College of Law, and as the executive director of an affordable housing non-profit agency. Jan and her husband live in Minnetonka where they raised three children.
