Congratulations to Best Wishes Floral, the Golden Valley Rotary Club's 2020 Business of the Year!

Paul P. Harris, an attorney, formed the world’s first service club, the Rotary Club of Chicago, in 1905. The Rotary name derived from the early practice of rotating meetings among members' offices.

Today, business remains an integral part of any Rotary Club. The members of Rotary are identified by vocation on their nametags and members participate in vocational service activities, including tours of businesses and regular speakers from the business and charitable organization communities. October is "Economic and Community Development Month" for the Rotary International calendar. The Golden Valley Rotary Club celebrates by naming a local Business of the Year to honor.

In 2006, the Golden Valley Rotary Club began the annual practice of honoring a business organization based in Golden Valley that exemplifies and shows leadership in good works in the community, is perceived to be a good employer in the community, and is perceived to observe high ethical standards, integrity, competence, and professional contributions in its industry. The honorees have been ATS&R Architects, Courage Center, General Mills, Golden Valley Golf and Country Club, Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery, Golden Valley Chester Bird American Legion, Winkley Orthotics and Prosthetics Company, PRISM, My Music Store, Culver’s of Golden Valley, Animal Humane Society, Tennant Company, and Jewish Family and Children's Service of Minneapolis.

Each year, the Past Presidents of our Golden Valley Rotary nominate businesses and discuss their merits. It is our pleasure to name Best Wishes Floral as the 2020 Golden Valley Rotary Business of the Year Award.

During this pandemic, the giving and receiving of flowers has never been more important. Flowers help improve a positive mood; flowers accelerate healing; flowers give people a better quality of life; and flowers give happiness to both the giver and the receiver. Owners Frank and Mark, with their beautifully crafted arrangements, are creating connections for family and friends that are currently separated. As the snow flies in early October, the need for bright and fresh flowers increases every day. Doing business with a local shop that cares for their neighbors makes us all better.

Best Wishes Floral started in 1986 and Frank Bohlander and Mark Hall bought the business in 2006. They are known for having the best flowers and for their great community involvement. As owners, they have made their local community a top priority in their business plan. Whether you’re at the Rotary’s Taste and Tour, PRISM’s Taste of the Burbs, or a local restaurant, chances are you’re enjoying blooms from Best Wishes Floral. They make a point in partnering with other organizations to make Golden Valley a better place to live and work.

Golden Valley Rotary Club believes that Best Wishes Floral exemplifies Rotary's motto of "Service-Above-Self."

Frank and Mark, thank you for the work you do at Best Wishes Floral and congratulations!
